Precision CNC Machining & Assembly
of Thermoplastic Products Unit

A customer in the environmental testing industry contracted with C-Plex, Inc. to provide precision CNC machining and assembly of a custom plastic housing for a new product. The housing was to serve as the main structure for mounting the electronic and mechanical components used for the extraction and evaporation of oil and grease. For the material of construction, we chose a thermoplastic with high impact strength and the ability to withstand highly corrosive environments.

Working from customer-supplied specifications, we used our KOMO Mach I CNC router to route both sides of panels, which were then milled on our high-speed HAAS machining center, and turned on a YANG SML 30 CNC lathe to form the features for each piece. In process measurements ensured that tolerances were kept to ±.005". Threaded stainless steel press inserts as well as chemical solvent bonding were used in the assembly process to form the final 25" x 25" x 25" enclosure. Additional quality checks ensured that each finished enclosure met the exact customer requirements.

We successfully completed manufacturing the initial 7 custom plastic housings, with a 3-4 week lead time, for a satisfied customer in South Carolina. To learn more about this precision CNC machining project, see the table below or contact us directly.
